Winter & Spring & Summer 2014

Jake killed his first deer on New Year's Day 2014 hunting with Steve and our family friend, Bruce.

SKI TRIP 2014:

EASTER 2014 was a lot of fun! The Easter Bunny brought lots of treats and the boys were super duper cute in their Easter attire:)

The boys still continue to say the cutest and funniest things. For example, Henry calls a whip "a slap" and a bandana a "damn-bana" :) He also talks about people dying and says they "went down in history" :) Jake calls a side dish at a restaurant the "sidings" :)

Jake celebrated his 8th birthday with a FISHING PARTY at the pond beside Pa and Grandma's house. It was super chilly but a lot of fun! Aunt Bizza cooked us food on the cooker and we had "pond water" (sprite) to drink. And of course, Jake caught a fish!

Henry celebrated his 5th birthday with a KITTY CAT PARTY at the patch :) He invited all of his friends and family and even had our cats (Mr. Handsome and Mrs. Pretty) there as the guests of honor. The bathroom was the "litter box", we had food such as "whisker lickin' good" chicken nuggets, and of course, a fun piƱata!

Jake successfully learned to tie his own shoes in June 2014. Henry learned to swim all by himself in the deep end on June 13th, 2014 during swim lessons at the Wakefield Pool!

Jake was chosen to have his original joke published in Highlites magazine!!!!

Jake also received perfect attendance for the 2013-2014 school year!
He also has learned to run the cash register at the farm and can check out customers!!!!!

Henry played T-Ball for the first time this year :)

Jake played Coach Pitch again and Steve was asked to pitch for the team! Jake really enjoyed having his Daddy be a coach :) Jake was also asked to play for the Southampton-Sussex All Stars team and Steve also helped coach them, too :)

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY 2014!

We started our first herd of cattle in July, partnering with our friend Matt Brantley. We have 10 cows that are part Angus/Simmental.

In July, Henry was chosen to be Little Mr. Peanut 2014 at the annual PPP Festival at Chippokes State Park. Jake also had this honor when he was 5, back in 2011.

Christmas 2012 and all of 2013

I have started to get emotional lately about how quickly the boys are growing. Each day seems to pass by so fast and at night, after the boys are asleep, I realize all of the things that we didn't get to do that day....or how little time I actually spent doing quality things with them. It makes me so sad. I am so scared that life is going to go by too fast and my babies are going to be grown before I am ready. So I am trying to capture as much as I can with this blog - the little details that one's memory might not retain. But it has been 6 months since I last posted. And that makes me even more sad. But I am going to try to catch up. It may come in bits and pieces, but it is all so important to me:

I will start with December, 2012. Christmas was wonderful. Jake asked Santa for about 6 different things, but the two things that Santa chose to bring were a football Wii game and a TV for Jake's room, which has really been nice because that is where the boys play Wii now, rather than downstairs in the living room. For months prior to Xmas, Henry started talking about wanting Rescue Bots. And that is what he asked for. And Santa pulled through and brought Henry 3 bots. Of course, Santa also got the boys lots and lots of other awesome things. Jake got a guitar from Grandmother and Mackdaddy! The rescue bots have been a HUGE part of Henry's life during the past few months and have contributed to a lot of happiness for him!

Easter 2013
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jake lost his first tooth on April 8th, 2013! Not long after that, he lost 2 more :) The tooth fairy visited each time and even left a note one time!

Jake turned 7 on April 16th and we had a PIRATE PARTY for him at the farm for all of his friends. You can see the strawberry field in the background :) We had a pirate flag and treasure dig, too :)

Henry turned 4 and had a RESCUE BOT birthday party at the patch with just his close family.

Jake's 7 year checkup showed him in the 98th percentile for his size, at 81 pounds :) Wearing a size 10 clothes right now. He just finished playing his first year of Coach Pitch baseball and he hit his first home run!!!! And I managed to get it on video!!!!!

In the fall, they helped Daddy cut corn.......

The Christmas season came. This was our xmas card:

The boys on Christmas morning, with the kitten that Santa brought, that Jake had wished for for so long. Jake named him Orio and he was precious!
Sadly, Orio passed away suddenly during a routine neuter procedure. The boys had only had him less than 3 months. They were devastated. Orio still lives in our hearts!

August-September-October-November-December 2012

In August, we went on a family trip to Lurray Caverns, The National Zoo, and Pirate Boating Adventures in Maryland:

Funny and sweet things the boys say:

Henry just said "all builders report to work" - lol

Jake calls a hamper a "hamster"

Henry calls a drive-thru a "driveway"

Jake came home from school one day and said he had a "suspect" teacher that day - (substitute)

Henry calls going online going on "dot cime" (dot com) :)

Henry just asked me if I would go with him to Heaven - I said when and he said
when he was old, old, old. Made me cry.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We said goodbye to our sweet Patch on 8/18/12 - Patch was a blessing in our lives ever since we adopted him in 2004, as a stray who showed up in the strawberry patch (thus, his name.)
We miss you, Patchie Boo, and we will see you again up in Heaven!

HALLOWEEN 2012 - MY PIRATES

In early Thanksgiving, we adopted a new cat into our family. She was a stray in Surry that needed a home, and we named her MRS. PRETTY :)

Henry had a Preschool Thanksgiving Program at school and sang alot of fun songs!!! He poses with his friend, Skyler, in this photo :)

We had a nice Thanksgiving and, as always, the boys wore matching shirts for the occasion :) Although Henry did have the stomach flu the night before, he felt better by Thanksgiving Day :)

However, the day after Thanksgiving, Henry and Jake were running inside and fell. Henry landed the wrong way and broke his right collar bone. We took him to the ER and they gave him a sling to wear for a week, and then a harness to wear for about 5 more weeks. He healed nicely but it was a scary time for him. Jake broke his elbow at age 4, so the two of them are making sure to keep up with each other in the broken bone department!

December was alot of fun! The boys were in the church Christmas program as sheperds and were very cute and adorable. They sang a duet together "Up On The Housetop" :) Steve was the narrator, as always, and did a good job :)

Jake asked Santa for alot of things when he wrote him a letter, including a tv for his room, a 3DS, a trowel, and a camo wallet. But on his lap, he requested a guitar and a football wii game. Henry decided months ago that he wanted Transformer Rescue Bots and that is exactly what he asked Santa for. That and a money box :)

In December, we also adopted a 2nd stray cat that had been visiting us at the patch for several months. We named him MR. HANDSOME and he and Mrs. Pretty are the best of friends :)

On Christmas morning, we woke up to wonderful blessings from Santa! He certaintly thought Jake and Henry had been good little boys because he left alot of nice gifts and toys!!!
